Views are from shipyards in Germany, Italy, Japan, and the U.S. and include scenes of launchings, construction, and daily life.

After serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII, earned a degree in marine engineering from the University of Michigan. Began his career with Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co., but after a few years took a position with the Esso/Exxon Corporation. Eventually became the head of the Engineering Section of the Design Dept., and was involved in the construction of most Esso/Exxon tankers built during the 1950's through the 1980's.
